3 Year Well Visit

We went in for Everett's 3 year check up yesterday and he was excited.
Really excited.
As a big three year old, he had his blood pressure taken for the first time.  He didn't complain, but afterwards he said it was "weawy (really) tight!"
Then, Dr. Lee came in and he aced his test of colors, shapes, holding up three fingers, jumping, and also was healthy in every nook and cranny she poked and prodded.  Of course, she noticed that he is very smart and SOOO cute!  He had her giggling a lot.  She was happy to hear that he is riding a two wheel bike with pedals, wearing a helmet, wearing his sunscreen, learning to swim, and wearing tight buckles in the car.
Everett's current weight is 37.8 lbs and his current height is 39.5 inches.  IF he continues on the current growth curve he has been on, we could expect him to be about 6 feet 2 inches when full grown.  He is proportional with 92th percentile weight and 90th percentile height - and definitely the coolest three year old they had through their doors.

Bike-A-Thon

Today you had a bike-a-thon at school to raise money for the children at St. Jude.  They called it a "trike-a-thon" for the preschool, but since you are a bike rider, we adjusted it's name.  You were able to get donations from family and came up with $230 for St. Jude.  :)  The race course was set up in the school parking lot...
and you were so excited when it was finally time to GO!
It was a very warm day and you needed to stop for some cold water a few times...
and we, as your cheering section, did partake in a cup or two as well.
Around and around and around you went.
And while others pulled off and drew with chalk and rested, you just kept going.
After a while, Everett found himself a stick to keep him company...
and found a nice spot to go fishing.
But, he was ready to abandon his fish when you were finished and looking for a congratulatory hug.
Good job, Emily!  We were very proud of you!
Everett did feel a little left out though and was wishing he could also ride his bike.  So, when you finished, Papa helped him "ride" to the car.

Then, when we got home, he tried to ride a bike with pedals (and no training wheels) for the first time.  It was a great success!  Go, Everett!

Everett Swimming 2014

Everett took swimming lessons in Mrs. Campbell's backyard just like Emily has for the last two summers.  It is her 39th year teaching lessons and she has it down to a science.  Everett's first day was May 5th...
and his last was May 16th.
Over the 8 30 minute lessons, Everett learned to swim better on his tummy with big arms and kicks, back float, dive off the side, and dive deep for "treasure."  He was very happy to be there every day and impressed all of the adults watching with his willingness to try everything and his success with each task.

Here are the video clips I have from 4 of the 8 days...

Pre-Birthday Birthday Party

On Saturday, the 3rd, we started the day with Emily's golf lessons.  She is still loving them, and doing well.

And Everett really has fun there too!
Then, that evening, to get Everett's birthday started off right, Daddy got us tickets to see the Angels play the Rangers at Angels Stadium.

It was the kids first official baseball game since the only other one was during spring training in AZ.  Everyone was happy to be in the big stadium...

and Daddy was happy that the Rangers were playing.
Of course, the first thing Everett said as his tush hit the seat was, "Cracker Jacks!"  So, we obliged...
and after a minute, Emily moved down our row so she could have a straight shot to the field without adult heads in the way.  She was having a great time clapping along and participating in the wave.
The jumbo tron was also a big hit and they did their best to get on the "kiss cam."
There was plenty of excitement during the game with baseball and a rogue fan on the field...
but the game also ended with a bang when we stayed to watch Everett's birthday fireworks show.

It was a really good show and a great night!

Fan Dancer - "Fancer"

We have a new fan in the house and it is a favorite activity for Emily to open it with a flick of her wrist.  She has just started creating her own fan dances to the soundtrack from Mulan as well.  Here is her earlier dance.

Everett Turns 3!

It's hard to believe that May 4th of 2014 has already come and gone!  That means that Everett turned...
(Emily celebrated an anniversary too)
Everett started his day with big kisses...
and a yummy breakfast in a kitchen decorated just for him.  Streamer on the ceiling and a table primed for stickers and drawings!
After he ate his french toast, coffee cake and bacon, and drank his orange juice, we were off to Boomers for some miniature golfing fun!

Emily was also big enough to drive her own car around for a few laps.

Once we had completed a round of golf and Emily had raced, we went to see Bears, the Disney Nature movie about a mama bear, Sky, and her two cubs.  Everyone really enjoyed it - and the popcorn!  For his birthday dinner, Everett chose hot dogs.  So, while Daddy grilled our burgers and dogs, the kids played with Mimi and Papa.

Finally, it was time for presents!  And, since Everett had announced that he was having a Super Why! party just a couple days before, I did my best to decorate in Super Why! colors and made some masks to match Whyatt's.

(big shot, welcome to being 3, a Leap Pad of his own!)

A birthday would never be complete though without some cake and ice cream!  Or cake made out of ice cream - even better!

What a deliciously fun day of celebrating our favorite little boy!
