Does A Body Good

Yesterday morning, Good Friday 2013, we went out on a little walk.  Except, I decided that I wanted to take it up a notch and finally walk up the service roads that I have been eyeing.
Our whole walk was about 2.5 miles and I got a great workout in while spending time with you two and enjoying the cool morning air.
This morning, we went out again and took Daddy along!  We took the same route and then some.  We ended up walking from the southern most part of our community to the northern most part - along the top of the hills on the service roads.  It can be pretty strenuous pushing you two up the hills and then holding you close on the downhills!  Daddy didn't think that my question, "do you want to go for a walk?" had properly prepared him for what was in store.  But, we all had a great time, a GREAT workout, and we ended up at our favorite (Everett friendly) park!  While there, we made Adam Jr. a birthday cake with two flower candles since today is when everyone who lives near him in Texas, is gathering to celebrate.
Our total distance this morning was 5.5 miles.  It feels good to be active and I hope you two are always just that.

Non-Island Getaway

Some days, especially after a particularly busy time or being homebound with illness/poor weather, I just need to get outside.  And, of course, my favorite escape is the ocean.  On January 6th, I "dragged" the kids and Mimi along for a little picnic lunch with a view.
Of course, no one was made to remain sitting the whole time so everyone ran...

(It had been raining, so I put Everett in his boots.  They did well to keep his feet warm and dry, but the stiff ankles made it very hard for him to get up when he fell.)

down to climb the trees!
While Emily and Mimi stayed back for some extra poses in the trees,
Everett went to look at the ocean.
Emily posed...
Everett directed traffic on the path...
Pose...
People watching...
Smile...
Splashing.
Before too long, we all met up again...
and Emily played around, going under my legs.
She wanted me to do the same to her...
but it didn't end as well.
Everett was a much better fit.
Mimi and Everett spent a few quiet moments walking together...
and then there was splashing...

before I had a turn watching the pelicans with Everett.
Somehow Emily ended up hanging from a tree branch...
but did eventually fall down.
Only to end up out on a limb again!
I had to snag one last picture of our beauty...
before bidding farewell to this.
Ah, the best medicine.

Christmas Train

Our Christmas tree was tired.  So very very tired.  So, on January 3rd we hauled it to the curb.  But, the Christmas train remained for a little more fun.
Watching it go around and around was great for a period of time.
But then Everett picked up the station (that plays music).  Uh oh.
Emily quickly returned it to it's proper position...
and Everett practiced his "uh oh"/shocked face for a long while.
But he did break for some dancing.
See you next year, Christmas train!  Choo Choo!

Doctor, Doctor, Give Me The News!

Everett has been working on his skills as a doctor...
and it's probably a good thing because we were all really sick.  (January)  I said that I had to take a minute to recline on the couch and both kids joined me.

Everett was the worst off and had several days of fever.

He just wasn't his normal self.  At all.
But, it was an opportunity for him to have his first popsicle!
Daddy helped him a lot and Everett ended up having a couple of them that evening.
Then he went back to lounging - just a little cooler now.
