Everett's Baptism

Everett was baptized on November 20th, before we left town. That morning, Mimi gave Emily a new baby to take with her.
She was wearing a beautiful baptismal gown...
and Emily was so excited to show Everett - preparing him for what he was going to look like.
The baptism was after mass and Everett did a great job (both kids did!!) waiting for his big moment!
After mass and before the baptism, Emily got a donut and chatted it up with Fr. Reynolds.
The gown Everett wore is the same one Mimi made for Emily. It will be our kids' heirloom gown to pass along. Mimi did make a few changes to it since Emily's baptism in '08 - just making it more special!
Before the baptism started the deacon asked for some helpers. Emily was deemed "Oil Girl #1"...
and held the oil very carefully.
We hemmed and hawed about where and when to have Everett baptized and finally decided that we would do it at our home church, possibly alone. We were very happy that it didn't turn out that way though... we had a good sized crowd, including his godparents - Uncle Adam and Aunt Angie.
(enter Oil Girl #1)

There weren't any tears shed but Everett did pay close attention to everything.

Emily was enrapt...
and by the end, Everett was a bit tired.

Later, as an added bonus, we dressed Adam Jr. in his baptismal gown for a few pictures since we, his godparents, were unable to attend. (Plus, his baptism was on a very hot day during a very long ceremony so not many pictures were taken - period.)

We had a relaxed lunch back at our house...

until it was time for everyone to leave.

We were sorry that more family was not able to be there but we are sure grateful to all of our friends and family who were. Thank you!!

*Red eye... grrr. Some things have to give when posting on the go.

Red eye, schmed eye. Who cares? The pics were great! Great job Mimi on the christening gown. Just out of curiosity, who inherits it when they grow up? Glad you had family there to share your family's special day.

Looks like a very blessed baptism day for Everett! How special to have a gown to pass down to Emily and Everett's children. Love it, Mimi! Oh and I think I recognize Noah and Mia's grandparents in some of those shots...they were so thrilled to have been there for the special day.
