Best Big Sister

Dear Everett,
I want you to know that Emily has been in training to be your big sister for a long time. Starting back on September 14, 2010 at my first OB appointment.
Most of her training was in the area of going with the flow. As a big sister you have to be able to sit back, relax, and go along for the ride since babies need a lot of attention. It might look a little like just watching a show...
but it's more than that.
A big sister...
has to be able to watch a show even when the going gets tough.
Like when headphones are too big and require you wear some paper towels on your head.

She had some training in "waiting" when we went to the hospital for Liam's birth...
and in being a crochet assistant once Liam's head was ready for a hat.
There were many practice sessions...
in all baby care areas...
as well as some time spent practicing how to play the games unique to your birth hospital.
Along the way she told everyone about you (holding court with all of the nurses at my OB's office)...
and even held my hand and bottle during the glucose test.
When May 4th arrived she was well prepared for the show watching that was required to distract her from the labor pain I was in...
and by May 5th she was done waiting and practicing. She got straight to work...
and hasn't missed a beat.
It's as if she was born to be your big sister.

And she is doing a really great job - I just wanted to make sure you noticed!
Love,
Mama

That post was so terrific. I almost cried. But I have a bone to pick with you YaYa. I am a big sister too. And I don't appreciate you making assumptions when you haven't seen me work my big sister magic.
