Birthday Dinner and Cake

After a nice nap it was time for dinner!  As Everett waited to be served, he enjoyed playing with his balloons.
He was hungry...
and eager.
As the food arrived, he was happy...
and really enjoyed his whole meal.
We also enjoyed some of Everett's favorite foods for dinner that night.
And I may or may not have gone overboard eating "Everett style."
Regardless, it was a fun meal complete with clapping...
and roof raising.
But, that was only the beginning.  There was still CAKE!
For birthday night, Everett got to eat his E cake...
and he was pretty curious.
He had been looking at the cakes all day but this was the first time one was within reach AND he was allowed to touch it!
Which was about all he wanted to do.  This is how it went...
until Emily couldn't wait any longer.  She was very confused as to why Everett was wasting time and not eating it!!

Things changed a little after that first bite.
And Emily was quite happy when it was finally her turn to eat - she chose a cupcake.

With a big meal and some cake in his tummy, Everett was getting tired.

And soon declared that he was "all done."
Apparently we didn't work fast enough because he continued to tell us "all done, all done" as we surveyed the damage.
Then, to finish off his birthday he was whisked away to the bath...
 shown the "sweet baby..."
and put to bed.  Night night you big one year old!

What fun! I love how he inspected the cake with no intention of eating it. Good thing Big Sister was there to show him the way. A great end to a great first birthday celebration!
