On the morning of January 29th we set off from home to our first destination... the San Diego Zoo! We took the "bus" along for this trip...
and it was Everett's first time sitting in the back NOT in his carrier.
It was a beautiful morning... only a little chilly in the shade.
We had a great time...
exploring together...
and Everett REALLY loved his time in the backseat.
We only had a couple hours to race around, which means we missed most of the zoo. But, we got to see a lot, and finished up with the polar bears.
Then, we found a short cut to the front of the zoo...
that took us high above the treetops and QUICKLY to the exit.
Good thing, because we had a 1st birthday party to get to! And, Everett was READY! 
Okay, so maybe he slept for the first bit of the party, he did miss his morning nap. But, the birthday girl, Lina, was all ready for her safari party...
and Emily was all ready for some fun.
She made fast friends with this little boy, Sawyer, and spent a good deal of time chasing bubbles...
while Lina watched.
When cake time came, I snapped a picture of Devon, Carly, and Lina together...
before we sang Happy Birthday.
Carly was quite generous with the cake pieces, but it was okay because all of us shared this delicious slice of chocolate cake with peanut butter filling.
Lina enjoyed hers as well.

Oh, boy, Everett, what a fun day you had at the zoo and a birthday party, too! Good thing you caught a quick nap in between. I love the photos of you riding in the "bus" without your car seat...the world sure is more exciting when you are sitting out in the open.
I want to ride that auto walkway into the trees and I want to hug Everett AND I want a bite of that cake!!
