Mimi and Papa came to town on June 27th for a special birthday party but we fit in a lot of other fun too! Like our trip down to the "Zango Zoo" on June 28th.
Shortly after arriving, we met up with our friend Devon and her granddaughter, Lina, and boarded the tour bus. It's a great way to see a lot of the zoo in a short amount of time...
and from up high, you can get some good views of the animals.
Though Everett was sometimes confused, asking "where did they go?!" when we moved along and they didn't.
After the fun bus ride,we went to see some more animals...
up close!
Including the reptiles. Emily was VERY excited to go and look at all of the snakes!
But, was alarmed when she learned that the "red dot" signified which snakes were venomous... there were A LOT!(She actually was pretty funny because as soon as Mimi told her what the dots meant, she was walking around telling everyone. Everyone. "Excuse me! Excuse me! That red dot means that that snake will bite you!" We couldn't get her to internalize that any snake could bite but that the red dot meant that the bite was extra dangerous.)
Luckily, she wasn't bitten by any of them or this large bird during our visit...
and we were on our way back out after about 4 hours. Then, on the way home, Emily announced that she needed to stop for a restroom break. It was, of course, poor timing since Everett had just fallen asleep and I had already passed my public restroom quota for the day. Mimi and Papa thought I was a little crazy when I decided to pull off and NOT go in the gas station bathroom but stop beside a construction site instead.
It was not a very populated area or anything (though there was plenty of traffic through there), the construction site was closed at the time, we didn't have to deal with a filthy gas station bathroom, AND Everett stayed asleep. I would do it again. And, really, probably will have to in the not too distant future.
Then, on June 29th, we met Daddy for lunch and then went on the "Big Wheel" - a giant ferris wheel.
Mimi and Emily have planned to go on it together for the two years we have lived here and were excited that the time had finally come!
It is rather large, which means that you can see for miles...
and you go very high up!
Emily and Everett loved it!
And lastly, after going around and around on the Big Wheel, we went around and around on a carousel.
Like I said, we did a lot of fun things!
