Our stuff was dumped in the new house on May 11th. Moving in is a process of checking off rooms in order of priority. One room at a time. The top ranking rooms that first day and next morning, were Everett's...
and Emily's.
The second room was the kitchen.
Even though we want to remodel the kitchen, we can't be sure when we will. But, I knew that these cabinets weren't going to work for us as they were - even for a few days.
Immovable shelves aren't anything a little jig saw can't fix though!
(Ugh, even when you move in a lot, there is still a TON more for the kitchen!!...)
Finally, day 3, the kitchen was finished...
and it was time to tackle the playroom...
and it's contents that spilled into the hallway.
It was a multi-step project and got really ugly before...
the hallway started clearing...
and the room was finished...
and functional.
Of course, the only thing you could see when you walked in the front door (or from the upstairs hall) was the living room.
So that room came next.
Then I took up some time hanging our old shower curtain in the kids' bath...
so I could delay the nightmare of the master bath.
But, the whole time I could feel someone watching me...
and just waiting...
to see when the master bedroom would be up.
So, I did finally give in and move in there.
This left only one room. But, before I chose to tackle that room, we moved into the garage and made room for cars!
Last, ranking at the bottom of the priority list, was the guest bedroom...
and (wonderful!) closet.
But with that room now behind me, we can say, "we are moved in..."
"ready for guests..."
"and gift giving/crafting."
Which moved in just means that everything is put away. Perfecting the organization and hanging things on the walls will take a little longer. But, it's not hard to find those things missing from the walls. Just look behind the dining room table.
Moving. So glad to have it behind us.
