Pulling Up

As it turns out, January 18th was a big day for firsts. Not only did Everett have his first swing, but he also tried to pull up for the first time! Everett has been much slower at this than Emily was and it took me a bit to figure out why. He is an "army crawler!" He spends all of his time on his tummy so he doesn't just sit back on his heels when stopped - which would lead to sitting up. Also, since he is not on his knees to start, he doesn't just reach up and pull on things to stand. (More on all of that later...)

On this day, we were playing in the playroom and he was sitting between my legs when, from the sitting position, he started to show interest in getting up.
It was very difficult to just pull up with his arms and he was not having great success.
Until he got on one knee.
But, when he tried to push with his foot he lacked grip (all fleece jammies)...
and eventually slipped down.
He was wiped pretty out...
so he explored down low a little...
before I helped him to standing again.
It was a whole new world for him! He might be inclined to visit the "upper" world again!

Yeah, Everett! Standing is halfway to walking in my book. Look out, world!
