You can walk straight through there (doorway across from dining room table) and past the butler's pantry, laundry room, sliding doors to courtyard, hallway (leading to kids bedrooms, bathroom, and staircase) before you get to the kitchen.
When you are standing in the kitchen you can see the family room to the left (with our new slate couch covers and old pillows... changing out the colors - pillows, etc. in this room soon)...
and the door on the exterior wall of the family room leads to the backyard. You have already seen a lot of the backyard features in various posts.
I mentioned the staircase. It leads to the bonus room that we have turned into the playroom as well as the guest bedroom. This is the view from the top of the stairs (the door is the guest bedroom door)...
here is the fence Grandpa made to protect little ones from falling over the very low wall and down the staircase...
(a favorite little spot of mine is the "house" - I would have loved it as a kid but Emily is just starting to appreciate it)and the view from the other side of the room.
Now, I probably shouldn't share all of these... I should make you all come visit in order to see it! We would LOVE that! The spacious guest room includes a full bath and is very private since it is the only room upstairs. :) See you soon!

How lovely! If we ever make it to CA we will definitely stay with you! With 3 boys. Upstairs. Where they will stomp all over like elephants. :)
