Snapshots Of Our Week - Wednesday Through Sunday

On Wednesday, the kids were excited when our neighbor stopped by with a surprise.
Cookies!

That was also the day that Everett was having a great time with his Elmo book...
and told me, "I am carrying it like a suitcase!" as he walked around.

That was also the day that Emily took a picture as Everett was waking up from his nap with her Leap Pad - and then decorated it.
On Thursday morning, we went by Daddy's office to offer a hand...
and said hello to the kids' favorite eel in the lobby...
before Everett devoured a good deal of oatmeal bars and turkey at the Costco sample tables.
From Costco, we went to pick Emily up from school and went over to a fundraiser for MOPS at a froyo shop.  Everett did not have any chocolate...
or did he?  I can't remember.
Thursday evening is Emily's soccer practice and Everett told me that he was going to eat his quesadilla (packed dinner to go, a must for soccer night) and watch Emily.  He did just that.
On Friday morning, we went to a park with a fence I really liked...
and played with some friends. (Rachel and Riley)
Then, on Friday evening I was out in Granada Hills for a very sad occasion.  BUT, I was able to see some faces from long ago and (the highlight)... this guy.  My Mike.  My scarecrow.  Haven't seen him since our CA wedding reception in '04.
Saturday was a slow morning, and just as soon as everyone was waking up, Emily (aka "Mama") was putting them back down for a nap.
(Everett really seems to enjoy this imaginary play because he pulls out his binky and lovey that are otherwise off limits during time spent out of bed.)
That night, Daddy went with Aunt Patty, Uncle Roger, and Trevor to the UCLA game and I went out to a neighbor's birthday party.  The kids stayed home with a new sitter, a neighbor named Ann Marie.  Everett was crying when I left but did fine for the rest of the evening.  But, when I turned on his light this morning I found Emily's photo album on the floor like this...
She explained that she thought it would make Everett happy if he could see Mama and Daddy so she asked him if he wanted to see a picture.  When he said yes, she retrieved her album and marked the page with his favorite blue car so he could look at us during story time before bed.  (Enough to make my heart explode.)
At 10:30, Emily had soccer pictures...
and was given two gum samples from Orbit for kids.  Everett really wanted to try the gum and managed (not surprising with him) to open the foil package, so I let him have his first ever teeny bit of gum.
He chewed and chewed and chewed like a champ.  Haha.  A sign that he is the second born - Emily only had her first piece of gum about a month ago.
