Just For The Hill Of It

On January 2nd we went for a little hike up the hillside behind our house.
They were allowed to sit in the third row seats when traveling from our house to the neighborhood park and they said things like, "isn't this the most wonderful day?!"  (Emily to Everett)

We set off from the park with what was left of our lunches and some water.
Just me and my shadows...

We paused for a break and snack at the top of the first part.

But there were many more dips...
and climbs in our future.  (Everett is making a silly face to get Emily to smile for this picture.)
One of our objectives was to see the progress of the dog park that is being built next to our neighborhood.  It's getting closer!  (Everett is very excited for the doggies to start playing there!)
The whole time, Emily and Everett were playing the tortoise and the hare.  Emily would run ahead and stop - eventually Everett would catch up.  During our return, Everett was really losing pace and Emily started opening her arms for him to run in to.

They both liked that game and before too long we were back where we had started - and, as you can see, Miss Sassy Hare was at the bottom waiting.
It was a fun outing and some good exercise.

Hope it is her longer legs not a lower energy level that makes Everett look like mimi!!!
