Before Santa Comes To Us...

we went to see him!
But, we were a little early and as we waited for Santa to walk in, Daddy showed up for a lunch break!

We had only a few more minutes...
before we heard a bell ringing and Santa bellowing, "Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas!" through the mall.  Both of the kids lit up and Everett was in awe.
We let a few people go in front of us and while I wasn't really worried about Everett's reaction to Santa when we arrived, the three kids in front of us screaming started to make me question how he was going to do.  He was watching the other kids and his face was very solemn and quizzical.  I thought that perhaps he would think, "oh, I am supposed to be afraid of this guy!"  But, as soon as the attendant opened the velvet rope, Everett marched right in, straight toward Santa and left Emily in the dust.
Santa had already lifted Everett on to his lap before Emily arrived (with her picture "list").
They had a moment to chat...
before it was picture time.
Everett looks slightly distressed in his pictures, but it's his "cheese" face.  He sat there, saying "cheese" the whole time and had Santa laughing.

Santa was very impressed with "this little guy"...
and was very sweet to Emily too.  He held her hands after the pictures, and asked her what she wanted for Christmas - what her favorite things to play with are.  (Princesses)
Then, he sent her over to his mailbox so she could leave her list because he said that he and Mrs. Claus go over them together.
We were pretty unsuccessful in getting a good shot of the kids in front of the tree...
to match last year's.
And once all of the picture taking was over and we left Santa's area, Everett wanted nothing more than his candy cane!
And he knew just where he was going to put it when I asked.

I think it was the first candy cane that Emily has eaten as well...
because in the past she didn't like them.  I thought that might be the case with Everett, but no way!
He made the sharp point on the end like a pro...
and devoured it.  Only leaving a sticky beard as proof that he had received a candy cane from Santa.

Oh I love the look back too, so sweet! I'm so impressed that Everett and Emily were so brave! I'm very curious about how our boys will do this year!

I'm always amazed at Everett's "chutzpah" in new situations and of course Emily is well prepared and has done her "research." But Santa also impressed me... holding Emily's hands, stating that Everett is a good one and really looking into his eyes. That Santa is a keeper!! A great experience for all!
