After lunch on December 2nd, we decided to head out as a family to find the perfect Christmas tree.
Emily and Everett were fired up about it.
Though Everett was a little unsure about what he was supposed to be doing.
But he was quite proud when he found a rock!
"Yeah! A rock!"
"I found a rock! I'm the man!"
"What? This WASN'T a great find?!"
Luckily, we moved on from the rocks and continued through the trees...
looking around every corner for the perfect one.
Some trees were way too big...
and others were way too small.
But, finally we did find one that was JUST RIGHT.
So, we marked it SOLD...
and walked back to the front of the farm.We only paused for a little hug...
and to watch the tractor pass by...
before we made it to the front and Emily jumped in line to pay for our tree.
Everett passed the time by playing around...
and pausing to admire his boots.
Of course, he was also excited to find a bunch of rocks. "Hey, Emily! I am wearing boots and I found more rocks!!!"Once our tree was paid for, we walked to the car...
and drove over to get in line for our very own lumberjack.
After a few minutes, we spotted him running toward us.When he arrived at our car, we told him where our tree was, asked him his name, and invited him to hitch a ride on the side of our car.
Kieran was a very nice guy and even offered to take a family picture in front of our tree.
Then, without missing a beat, Kieran was on the ground, sawing down our tree. We didn't have to lift a finger. Although, I suppose Emily did (technically speaking) lift a single finger...
as she watched our tree fall down.
Another confusing event for Everett.
Within minutes, our tree was cut down, on its way to our car,
and tied on the top.Emily gave Kieran an approving thumbs up...
and then he was off to help the next customer waiting in the growing line of cars.
A spectacular success at the tree farm finding our 2012 Christmas tree!
PS on the way out, we passed a landscaping company who had the perfect set up for our family... giraffes and elephants!
