Snow Much Fun!

After Daddy debuted as a NASCAR racer, we set off in the direction of the snowy mountains of SoCal.
I had planned to just go up the mountain for snow play at the Mountain High Resort on Sunday morning (after staying locally overnight).  But since there had been a decent snow storm the previous few days we decided to go up and try to find some snow outside of the resort area.  Also during the previous few days, there was a massive manhunt in the mountains "nearby" so we gladly turned left on highway 138 and drove away from the killer's last known location - Big Bear.
It was a beautiful drive into the...
We ended up driving through the small town of Wrightwood...
and up to the ski resort...
before turning around and picking a quiet, empty patch of snow along the side of the road back in town (Wrightwood).
Then we proceeded to have a ton of fun!

Everett's mittens didn't allow him to pick up and form any snowballs so he would walk over and pat the snow off of his mitten onto your leg to "get you!"

But, Everett was in luck when we found an area where others had used a tool to form perfect snowballs.

When we were sufficiently cold and tired (it was a pretty day but there were a lot of clouds to block the sun most of the time, we were in the shade of the mountain, and the wind whipped straight through the canyon) we drove out of the mountains to our big hotel room!
It was difficult to find any available rooms when I was planning the trip, so when this room that sleeps 10 (4 queen beds and a fold out couch) popped up, I grabbed it.
It had been a long day with only a short nap for Everett.  So after finishing a quick dinner, the kids watched themselves on the videos on my phone,
Emily snapped a couple of quick pictures,
and we all went to sleep.
*Daddy first found out on Friday evening (when presented with sled and saucer) that we were going to the snow.  He also learned that he would need to pack for an overnight stay because we wouldn't be returning home on Saturday afternoon (after racing) as he expected.

Oh wow, what a fun area you live in! To be able to drive to the mountains and see snow would be amazing! I bet your kids just loved it. What a great wife you are to plan such a fun celebration! Too bad we're not closer, we could have come and camped in that huge room with you! :)
