On Sunday morning, we got up and dressed pretty quickly (minus the time spent taking a picture and pulling Everett out of the suitcase he fell in)...
so we could get out of the hotel and head back for the mountains...
and get to the tubing area...
as soon as it opened.
If you would believe it, Everett didn't "measure up" even with all of his gear on, so Emily was the only one to get her coat tag which allowed her to tube.
Before I even saw what the runs looked like, she was in line with Daddy and I just watched as they disappeared over the edge together.
As I moved over, I was able to see Daddy pulling her tube...to the path...
leading to the moving walkway back up the mountain.
I then took a picture of the tubing runs...
as Everett and I waited...
for them to make their way back up.
Emily immediately jumped back in her tube and excitedly went down by herself.
As did Daddy. And I enjoyed the trees...
until Emily showed up at the top of the conveyor belt again.
Without pause, she hopped back in her tube, was pushed over the edge...
and pulled it to the walkway...
(well before Daddy was down there)
and made it to the belt to come back up.I have said that it was like having a teenager (or at least a much older child) there because she was totally independent. She waited in line,
slid down, and made her way back up all by herself.
Over and over again.
After watching those first several turns, Everett and I found a place to play in the snow...
hunt pinecones,enjoy the sunshine,
and eat snow. Cold, cold snow.
Eventually, we went back to find Emily and Daddy and Everett was able to at least sit in a big tube...
while I had my turn to go down the fastest run with Emily.
Everett enjoyed the tube...
and I enjoyed my adventure with Emily (video only) before taking Everett to the car for a bite to eat.
He had a relaxed snack...
before we went up the hillside to a new spot for some pictures.Up there he was KING OF THE WORLD!
We joined Emily and Daddy as they finished up their last run and we asked someone to take our family picture. (In our picture Everett was both letting it be known that he had wanted to tube(!) and that he didn't want Emily's hand on his head.)
As we were walking to the car,
I showed Emily the KING OF THE WORLD picture. So, I had to run her up to take a QUEEN OF THE WORLD picture as well!
Then we were able to load into the car and head down the mountain. Only stopping one time for me to take some pictures for my "Visit SoCal" campaign.* :)
Before long, we were passing the ski resort...
and back down in Wrightwood.
But, OF COURSE, that wasn't the end! We hadn't unbundled ourselves as we got in the car because we knew we had to stop back at our spot from Saturday, to give Everett a little fun.
It was a wonderfully fun weekend for our family. We had a lot of quality time together...
and a million smiles.
I told Emily, on our way home, that she had tired eyes. And after I took a picture of them...
she asked to take a picture of Everett's tired eyes.
But, for the record, Everett only fell asleep for the last 20 minutes of our 1.5 hour trip home and Emily never slept. First thing in the door... nap time!!
Happy Birthday, Daddy! We love you!!
*Visit SoCal campaign: I joked that since we did so many different things over Paul's long celebration weekend within a short distance from our house, that we could be part of a tourist campaign. What would have really topped it off (if we didn't have children's schedules to adhere to) would have been dinner at the beach. Both very doable and would be a great addition to my campaign. Come on out and visit! ;)

What fun, I'm a little cold now though! Have to resurrect the picture of Mama tipped over in a life vest with a similar reaction to Everett's spill! Just waiting for a "lift"!
Icey kisses!
